A Chinese, Jian kiln, persimmon glazed tea bowl; Southern Song dynasty.
The bowl is covered overall with a lustrous glaze of reddish-brown tone, stopping irregularly above the foot exposing the dark purplish-brown body.Diameter, 12.1 cm
Condition: good. Free from damage, cracks or repair.
Provenance: From an Oxford collection of early Chinese ceramics that we managed to purchase. By repute, the gentleman collector, now deceased, had spent some time working in China.
