A Chinese, black glazed bowl with splashed-ash decoration from the Jizhou kiln. Southern Song to Yuan dynasty; C13-14th. The glaze terminating above the swiftly-cut foot to show the pale, buff coloured, paste. Diameter, 11.9 cm.
Provenance: from the deceased estate of a North Yorkshire collector; acquired in China in the first half of the C20th.
Condition: A chip to the inner rim with an associated hairline crack which terminates towards the foot.
