A Chinese, Henan, russet painted black-glazed pear-shaped vase, Yuhuchunping, Jin dynasty (1115-1234 AD).
The vase is potted with a pear-shaped body rising to a waisted neck and a flared mouth and supported on a short foot. The body is decorated in bold brush strokes of iron brown with foliate motifs on a dark brownish-black glaze.
Height 29 cm.
Provenance: from the deceased estate of a distinguished Professor and collector of Chinese art. The collection formed in the 1980s to 90s.
Condition: Good, with some age-realaed wear. Nibbles to the underside of the mouth rim.
