A Chinese Cizhou-type teadust glazed jar; Yuan dynasty
SKU: 633
A large Chinese, Cizhou-type, jar; late Song-Yuan dynasty.
An unusual wide mouthed jar with a sharply everted mouth rim and covered overall in an attractive teadust-brown glaze, except for the foot and mouth rims.
An identical jar is found in the Sinan excavation report.
From a Northern Chinese kiln.
Dimensions; 21.5 cm tall.
Condition; in good condition with age appropriate wear, and some nibbles to the mouth rim. The mouth-rim is rough, and suggests that another vessel was fired on its rim.
Provenance; From the collection of a German scholar, assembled between 1961 and 1966.
