A Chinese black glazed jar, Sui-Tang dynasty

A Chinese, dark brown glazed, two handled jar from the Sui-Tang dynasty. The ovoid shaped jar is supported by a short, flat foot, and covered by a brown glaze which appears black where it is applied more thickly. It is beautifully potted in a fine and dense stoneware, and is from a Northen Chinese kiln; probably Xing ware. See photo from Sui Xing excavation report.
Dimensions; approximately 15cm tall.
Condition; a firing fault to one side, and some nibble to the foot rim.
Provenance; From the collection of a German scholar, assembled between 1961 and 1966.
