A Chinese amber glazed jar; Han dynasty

A Chinese, amber glazed, Hu jar which follows the archaic bronze form; Han dynasty. The low-fired lead glaze was further embelished with a green swirling decoration to the shoulder of the jar. This was likely achieved by using a copper pigment.
Dimensions; 23.5 cm tall
Condition; this is an excavated item, with areas of glade degradation and wear in part. The lid is missing, and there are some nibbles to the mouth rim.
Provenance; From the collection of a German scholar, assembled between 1961 and 1966.
